Cardinals, Tamaraws to keep slate clean

BANILAD TOWN CENTRE, Cebu City (12 August 2011)The Cardinals of St. Louis College – Cebu (SLCC) will aim for a spotless record as the 3rd BTC Cup enters its second weekend of elimination games here tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 13.

The Alpha and Bravo squads of coach Noel Saducas are seeded top in Divisions A and B at 16-under with 2-0 and 3-0 win-loss cards as they face formidable challengers.

Prolific gunner Benedict Charles Tibon will lead the Alpha team as they clash with the Junior Green Lancers of the University of the Visayas (UV) led by equally productive Mark Joseph Basea, also a team to watch this year.

Wingman Jenny Villacorta is expected to energize the Bravo team as they encounter with the highly strung Cebu Bradford School that will bank on the long-range precision shots of Ivan Dick Sebastian.

Formation School (FS-KLC) and San Isidro Parish School (SIPS) would also not want to stain their early lead in Divisions C and D at 16-under in this inter-school 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Anchored on Jay Mark Canasa and backed by Jose Arba Bacasmas, the FS-KLC shooters will aim for a 3-0 card as they deal with Team B of Center for International Education (CIE) in this series presented by Thirsty and Nike.

The second herd of the SIPS Isidorian Tamaraws will again rally around Jonathan Tanghal and Jesse Dave AƱasco to outrun the A teams of Sacred Heart School (SHS) Ateneo de Cebu and of St. Paul Learning Center (SPLC).

Rivalry

In the 14-under card, an early rivalry is seen between the first herd of the Isidorian Tamaraws and the lone squadron from Colegio dela Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC) in the league backed by Dimsum Break.

Last year’s 12-under MVP Joshua Riner Ramas will have to carry his team to victory for a 4-0 record against the CIC boys of coach Frankie Lastimoso that will banner spitfire Paul Go.

A win by CIC as well as against PAREF Springdale School’s Team A would make it take the leadership of Division B of the tournament supported by Robinson’s Supermarket and Cherifer Growth Vitamins.

The lone 14-under team of St. Alphonsus Catholic School (SACS) and the second herd of the Isidorian Tamaraws will also aim at sweeping two separate assignments to keep their early lead in Division A.

The 3rd BTC Cup is sponsored by Nature Spring, Holy Kettle Corn and Optical Adult and Child, Cebu’s leading dealer of sunglasses by Oakley, Tag Heuer, Levi’s, Giordano and Silhouette.
