THE 3rd BTC CUP is an inter-school 3-on-3 basketball tournament conducted at Banilad Town Centre in uptown Cebu City. As the series enters its third annual consecutive edition, the event has already been acknowledged as Cebu’s premier 3-on-3 basketball competition.

Participated in by private elementary and secondary schools in Metro Cebu, it is played in a 3-on-3 half-court format in four age categories. While it had since 2009 been an all-male affair, organizers are open to accept female teams for as long as there are at least four entries in one age category.

As it had been at the beginning and last year in 2010, the games will be played primarily in front of the main lobby area of BTC facing the parking lot in four weekends, from August 06 to 28, 2011. Every game is played for 10 minutes. The series pf games start at 7:30AM.

The Categories with cut-off birth dates:

• 10-under    Grades 3 & 4                 01 September 2000
• 12-under    Grades 5 & 6                  01 September 1998
• 14-under    1st & 2nd year HS       01 September 1996
• 16-under    3rd & 4th year HS       01 September 1994

Joining Requirements:

• P 700.00 per team of 4 players
• School I.D. + certification on age by the school head
• Filled-out registration forms as sent to the school heads

Every team will get a Game Card that will serve as proof of the games it plays in. The same Game Card will have sales coupons (discounts) from supporting BTC tenants that the players can enjoy.

Tournament Sequence:

• Tournament starts with elimination series, then a playoff round and finals
• The system will be determined when the number of participating teams are known
• Elimination may be direct knockout, 1 round robin, 2 divisions
• Playoff and Finals may adopt the twice to beat system, or best of three
• There will be an All-Star Game (Best Players by Stats: North vs. South, or East vs. West)

Prizes:

• BTC Cups — Champion and 1st Runner-Up
• Medals for the players of the champion teams
• Certificates for the players of the 2nd and 3rd place teams
• Special prizes for MVP, Best 3-Pointer and Highest Free Throw
• Some GC’s and discount cards from BTC tenants

Technical Schedule:

• July 15 • 03PM – Briefing, coordination with team coaches, school sports coordinators
• July 22 • 12NN – Submission deadline of teams and line-up of players per team at BTC
• July 29 • 03PM – Meeting w/ team coaches, school sports coordinators for scheduling
• Aug 06 • 09AM – Grand opening, parade of teams, oath of sportsmanship, torch lighting
• Aug 27 • 09AM – All Star Morning • 02PM – Playoffs
• Aug 28 • 10AM – Championship Games and Awarding
